Founder’s Notes: Winter Storms and Quality-of-Life Updates

Welcome to Founder’s Notes—a casual space where I share updates, reflections, and behind-the-scenes moments from Innovative School of Health. These posts aren’t meant to be formal; they’re meant to be honest, human, and informative, giving you a clearer look at what’s happening beyond the desk.

Brrr—cold! So cold! We’re under a Winter Storm Warning, and I am NOT built for this.

One: I have no meat on my bones. Built like a twig. Not enough fat to keep me warm.

Two: I’m just not used to this type of warning or weather.

I’m from sunny Arizona, where it feels like you’re on vacation all year round. This winter storm warning is really making me miss my sunny state of AZ. Wish me luck—and if you’re under the same warning, please be careful and pack accordingly for emergency situations.

That’s the main reason I’m doing an early blog. It seems like everyone in the community is trapped in their homes. The streets are as empty as that Christmas cookie jar we all know never actually has cookies in it—just random stuff. Why do our grandparents use those canisters for random things? Ask your grandparents and get back to me on that.

I do have a few minor updates—nothing major—just some QoL (Quality of Life) updates for our students.

In an effort to better guide you through your educational journey with Innovative School, we moved some things around and added a bit of this and a bit of that. The hope is that, if not your cohort, then the next cohort will easily adapt and that these changes can benefit both. Let’s call this Update 1.0. In this update, we focused mainly on the website:

  • We added a calendar at the bottom of the homepage so you can see when your next upcoming medication handling and skills training sessions are.

  • We made certain verbiage bold. Small change, but like I’ve said before—we hear you. I’ve heard from people interested in becoming students that some wording on the site was difficult to read. This change was long overdue.

  • We added a new link at the top of the website under Student Centre called Innovative Live Q&A. I’m actually most excited about this update. It allows you to ask questions anonymously, and during the live Q&A session, our Education Specialist will go over those questions along with other informative topics to better prepare you for the state test.

  • We added a few items to the navigation menu. In our effort to remain transparent, we believe it’s valuable for you to know the figureheads behind the desk. Under ISH Team, you can now get to know the primary individuals working to make this school a better experience for you.

  • Lastly—and this is a big one—we added… hmm, what should we call it? Thinking… “Straight to Text.” Yeah, that works, lol. This allows us to automate processes and send vital information directly to you via text. From the beginning, we’ve embraced texting and always aimed for fast, easy communication. This feature may not look impressive on the surface, but we know email isn’t always the quickest way to reach you—and this helps fill that gap.

WOO! Okay folks, that’s about it for today’s blog. As always, you’re encouraged to comment below. Enjoy your day, and please be careful if you’re in the area affected by this winter storm warning!

Thanks for taking the time to read. As always, your feedback is welcome, and I appreciate you being part of the Innovative School of Health community.

ED,

Tyrone W.
