Founder’s Notes: Behind The Scenes at Innovative School of Health
Okay, okay—this is my first blog, so take it easy on me. I don’t really know how you’re supposed to do this, so I’m just jumping in blind and we’ll go from there.
To start, I’ll say this: this blog won’t be formal. It’ll just be me, by myself, with no one around, typing. My team won’t have a card in this deck—it’s simply whatever is on my mind flowing out to inform you on a series of things:
school updates
future expectations
whatever comes to my mind, business-related or not
and idk… more!
I won’t use this week’s blog to talk about why we started this school—yada yada yada. I already go over that in the About Me section at the bottom of the homepage. Instead, I’ll lightly discuss what we’re looking forward to doing.
Now, do note: these are short goals. There are so many regulations we have to stay aware of, and everything costs money, so while these are in the works, I can’t say they’ll happen this year. I’ve been talking to my team, and at times I’m sure they think I’m a nut case, but I want to add more courses. I know, I know—“you’re a school, that should be easy.” There’s always someone who makes things seem easier than reality, lol. But nope—this is way more challenging than it appears.
The big program I’m looking to add is a CNA course, and a more achievable one would be an EMS course. To give you a general idea, here are just some of the things we have to think about when considering a new course. This isn’t even half—or a quarter—of the list, so keep that in mind:
office space
a new director and instructors
regulations
pay for each new team member added
marketing
paying to keep the lights on while these classes are active
market desirability
fraud
program affordability
initial capital
I mean, the list just keeps going. Most of the time, when we look at implementing anything new, it’s usually been in the planning phase for at least two years. I want that timeline to be shorter, but right now it almost seems unlikely.
Through all of this, I want to say that I hear each and every one of you. I’ll always take responsibility—first for myself, and second for my team. That’s not easy. Many of you get upset, and honestly, it’s understandable. There’s just so much behind this desk that has to be managed.
I don’t ask you to change who you are for my sake—not at all. I ask that you continue to be you. Continue to ask questions. Reach out when you’re frustrated with us, or when life is simply getting in the way. We’re human, and while we must operate as a business to remain open, I want you to know that I see you. I care about your experience here at Innovative School of Health, and I want your success to always be celebrated by my team and me.
I think I’ll end it here and come back next Wednesday to connect with you all a little more. This is very casual, so feel free to leave a comment or send an email—I’d love to read them.
